burgers

We found a good burger place (with juke box!) down by the Yasaka Shrine; we've been there twice now.

Our friend Atsuko came a few months ago to help us do pottery and we got our results back, just in time to mail them home!

The kids made these pots (plus one more small pitcher)

It is Gion Matsuri and we have been watching some of the parades and festivities. I will update the blog later this week with photos and movies.  It has also been HOT. it is in the high 80s or low 90s and very humid. We also had a huge rainstorm on Saturday night (although we all slept through it). But the Kamo river was at least 3 or 4 feet above normal when I went running on Sunday morning. It was amazing to see how much water was rushing downstream.
